OUR CONSORTIUM

RINA Consulting - Centro Sviluppo Materiali S.p.A. (RINA-CSM) is the company inside the RINA group mainly devoted to R&D sector. It will act as the coordinator, thanks to its extensive experience for the development and application of innovative processes and materials, and hundreds of international collaboration agreements and contracts with the European Commission.

In FASTCH2ANGE, RINA-CSM leads also the design, development, and validation of PFAS-free membranes, gas diffusion layers, and sealing components.

RINA Consulting S.p.A. (RINA-C) is a renowned engineering consultancy firm that specializes in providing innovative solutions across various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and environment. Part of these activities are dedicated to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and sustainability strategies. Past and current projects include EU projects funded by the FP6, FP7, H2020 Programmes, the JRC, ESA, World Bank, as well as specific projects for European industry associations and international companies.

VTT is a leading Finnish research institution specializing in applied science and technology for sustainable growth. With broad expertise in hydrogen technologies, it supports component and stack-level testing for electrolysis systems. In FASTCH2ANGE, VTT is in charge of validating PFAS-free components using its proprietary single-cell tools and contributes to system integration and TRL4 demonstration.

IDENER.AI is a Spanish technology company focused on smart engineering solutions and the digitalization of energy systems. In FASTCH2ANGE, IDENER is responsible for the modeling of the electrolysis system, the development of a digital twin, and process optimization. Its role supports the integration of component-level innovations into a system-level simulation and control environment, enhancing performance evaluation and scalability.

TECNALIA is Spain’s largest applied research and technology organization, with extensive expertise in industrial innovation and public-private collaboration at the European level. In FASTCH2ANGE, TECNALIA is responsible for the development of PFAS-free catalyst-supporting layers and PFAS-free coatings for the Liquid-GasDiffusion Layers (LGDLs). It also contributes to intellectual property management and exploitation planning, ensuring the technological results are scalable and ready for industrial uptake.

IL SENTIERO INTERATIONAL CAMPUS (SIC) is a multidisciplinary research and training center based in Italy, with expertise in education, innovation, and sustainability. In FASTCH2ANGE, IL SENTIERO contributes to the design and validation of PFAS-free sealing components such as gaskets and insulation materials. It also plays a key role in dissemination and communication activities, promoting project visibility across technical, educational, and policy audiences

Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is Europe’s largest organization for applied research, with a strong reputation in materials science and electrochemical technologies.
In FASTCH2ANGE, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE is responsible for electrochemical performance and durability testing of the developed PFAS-free components. It also supports the alignment of testing protocols with European standards and contributes to the project’s validation and safety assessment framework
