01

Developing 100% PFAS-free PEMEL Components

FASTCH2ANGE is designing and validating proton exchange membrane electrolysis (PEMEL) components — including membranes, catalyst-supporting layers, gas diffusion layers, and sealing elements — using only fluorine-free materials

02

Validating Performance at TRL4

All the new materials and components will be tested under harmonized European protocols and validated up to TRL 4, ensuring technical feasibility, safety, and reliability in real electrolysis environments.

03

Applying Safe-by-Design and Circularity Principles

The project adopts a sustainable-by-design approach, integrating environmental, health, and circular economy criteria from the earliest stages of material selection and design, supported by LCA, LCC, and s-LCA assessments.

04

Enabling Industrial Scalability and Market Uptake

By the end of the project, FASTCH2ANGE aims to deliver groundbreaking solutions that can replace current PFAS-based electrolyzer components — supporting a PFAS-free hydrogen economy in Europe.
